Lately, I was quizzed by my 9 years old girl about AI? Perhaps, I was left amazed by the way young kids ask questions. I thought for a while because what I share should at least make some sense for her.
I believe she must have heard from a short video reel she watched on tv. It is some sort of idea that content creators are pushing about AI in their YouTube or precisely in their social media sites.
AI is easy to say but hard to explain especially for young and old minds. These are the two distinct generations to be fazed by AI. Most says, it's just the beginning. One will have plenty of time to use and be in the AI league. Looking at the trend, they don't likely have any escape. The older group probably won't be much affected by it directly, even though, we already felt a significantly gaps created by these technologies.
The second question I was asked was - this AI is stupid! "I guess she must have heard someone said "AI is bad."
I did not have any response for her. I stayed quite thinking deep within, oh God, what time are we living in and where are we going. Quite unsure, I told her AI is a system that can do many things except generating some emotion or thinking like humans. They are intelligent but dumb, absolutely dumb!
This is exactly why I have to share a few things regarding this book called "Good Influence" by a so-called social media influence by the name "Zac Perna".
Overall, the language and tone of the book is simple to understand and relate to anyone's life. I was a bit unsure how I can relate to my upbringing and my view of this world increasingly shaped and influenced by the Internet, and now by AI technologies.
I never thought, world would be this crazy, so fast, so individual and so divided...
This guy tried his best to position his mind in such a way that we (anyone) can be a good influencer in their own circle or community. The story is so simple. One needs to try, keep trying, small habits can lead to big success.
So much the time and thinking of us (all) has changed. So, uncertain about what tomorrow will bring, he put up many ideas based on his own experiences of how and where he started to what he finally achieved in life within his space. He trusted him so much and kept pushing the boundary. It could be time. It could be space. It could be the culture. It could be the internet. It could be AI now. Anyway, he succeeded in his pursuit.
Through his story, perhaps he tries to remind everyone in the age of the internet, social media thing, and now powerful AI coming, that what can be even more interesting and safe is all we must prepare to live. There are endless opportunities everywhere, one just needs dedication and attitude, skills and knowledge can be created as one progresses forward.
Personally, I could grasp so many interesting and simple life lessons through the book.
....
One can come across simple yet interesting lines such as this ... "A bird doesn't question its ability to fly."
..."confidence"... "start small, with any step that you can manage." ..."food choice/eat/diet." ... "discipline/mindset." ... "stay lean and healthy."
... "healthy lifestyle/make good decisions/healthier and happier." ... "being mindful/passion/skill." ..."unforgiving/adding value to everything." ..."push your comfort zone and do more."
All-in-all, this book somehow painted a holistic picture of my upbringing, pursuit, mindfulness, concerns (NO belly fat!), ability, weakness, and many more life skills that a person born with go unnoticed or in worst case - it go unused. In my case, it's a mixed, some are on track, some just unforgivingly useless, and some are biased.
I want a decent, simple lifestyle with just enough to survive with a safe community, good health, and high social cohesion, not just on the lip-service, but deep in the society and individual. If anyone is looking forward to a memorable, simple yet meaningful lifestyle, seeking for some good start or kind of encouragement, this book can be a good start. You don't have to do exactly like this author, but you can pick a few things that you can do, give a try and see how far it can take you.
