2022: A Special Year For Us

With much hardship, we finally call it a year. The year that has given us so much has also trapped so much sweat from each one of us.  It not only made us strong but also equipped us with many unforeseen life obstacles. Before we depart for winter break, we come together to celebrate our achievement and bid farewell to our outgoing friends.

We are a group of 20 beautiful souls!

Today as we come together to celebrate our year-long struggle and achievement, it is a time to deeply reflect upon our individual effort, commitment and sacrifice we made as a team to come this far for the national cause.

I must tell you that it was an honour and privilege for me to serve you all with so much joy and happiness.

We have had a beautiful beginning. Most of us were ready to explore on new journey with fresh ideas. Undoubtedly, the inception of Bhutan Baccalaureate was a new concept and journey less travelled for all of us, yet we gave our best for all the programs. Today as we sit and reflect back, we have done so many beautiful things together.

Half-way through the year, we were in between the test of time versus the syllabus feast. Despite numerous celebrations, holidays, sickness, tests, exams, teaching, and BB programs, we still could sail well and had a lot of time for fun.

Although the whole year was a rollercoaster, a bit of everything has happened. But, undoubtedly we have learnt to serve ourself with dignity. Advancing into the final quarter of the year was more exciting, but at the same time it was the tight battle between syllabus versus time. The good thing was that our unrelenting self-disciplined mind gave way to this rewarding end.

I have always entered this campus with good intention to serve you all with dedication and highest integrity. Indeed, I tried my best to make you all feel good, so that your stay becomes memorable even long after you leave this institution. I am sure each one of you must have learnt good human values. And I believe this is nation building.

I want each one of you today to forgive me in case for being unkind, unfair, and unjust. Nevertheless I gave you cause for concern for being so punctual as it troubled many of you to make your presence on time for SUPW. And I believe this too is nation building.

Let me once again bring this under your notice –I am addicted to a few habits which you all would think are useless and make no sense –but to me this matters as a concerned citizen. I am so close to nature and addicted to coming on time, responsible of my own waste, which must have hurt some of you here. And I believe this too is nation building.

I must tell you, for any small good habit that you build each day would only make you closer to achieving your goals in life. It has the power to make you wiser and fulfill all your dreams and wishes. Such an act shall only benefit you and the country. And this too is nation building.

As we close our mentor-mentee session today, things are not over, we still share our bond, friendship and care. I may have failed in some part of my duty, and must have failed to meet some of your expectations, but the good part is that I learnt to give my 100 percent for my service. I hope to continue helping and be your mentor throughout. And this too is nation building.

If you want to achieve something beautiful, you must learn to sacrifice and work hard, you must not cease to learn and learn to give 100 percent. Also learn to develop a positive mindset and set high dreams for which you all would one day find happiness and accomplish your goal. If all these things become everyday habits –beautiful things such as houses, cars, clothes, meals and life partners are guaranteed. And I believe this too is nation building.

With all our afford, we could achieve so much in a short span of time which I believe is a huge thing for all of us. And today as we gather to bid farewell to some friends, this is also a moment to deeply reflect upon our difficult journey we have travelled throughout the year. These must be our guiding principles for the future. I thank each one of you for being so kind and cooperative as it made my work easy and comfortable. I wish you to continue to be a good human being even beyond this campus. Above all, we have learnt human values and shared knowledge and made a friendship to last a lifetime. And this too is nation building.

Please continue to be a good human being no matter what place, position and wealth each one of you accomplish in life. Remember your goodness is the only constant thing in life. And this too is nation building.

I request each one of you to serve your parents well because they won’t be with you forever. Just remember they have sacrificed everything for you. Parents are the special gift that God has ever created. They are once in a lifetime. Show them kindness, support, love and care no matter what the situation may be  because they have given you the best foods, best clothes and protected you from everything. And this too is nation building.

Let me also tell you that life from today will become more difficult and risky. If you learn to develop a positive mindset, nothing shall bar you from achieving your goal in life. Everything in life will never be easy, never going to be an easy task from today. However, I am happy to say that we have equipped ourselves for the last 13 years for the future we are heading into from today. And I believe this too is nation building.

If I am asked to write one greatest achievement for the year, it is you all and the journey we have trodden for the whole year.

Thank you for sacrificing your time with me.

The Story of Malika Chand.

There lived a schoolteacher named Malika Chand. She loved teaching and treated her students as she would, her own children. Nurturing their potential with great kindness. Her perennial motto was, 'Your,  I can is more important than your,  IQ .' She was known throughout her community as a person who lived to give. Who selflessly served anyone in need? Sadly, her beloved school, which had stood as a silent witness to the delightful progress of generations of children, succumbed to the flames of a fire set by an arsonist one night. All those in the community felt this great loss. But as time passed by, their anger gave way to apathy and they resigned themselves to the fact that their children would be without a school. "What about Malika?"   "She was different, an eternal optimist if there ever was one. Unlike everyone around her, she perceived opportunity in what had happened. She told all the parents that every setback offers an equivalent benefit ...
